Easy Cabbage Casserole
A savory easy cabbage casserole with sausage and cheese
Equipment
- 1 medium size casserole dish
Ingredients
- 1 head cabbage medium sized head
- 2 cups browned ground sausage You can use breakfast sausage, link sausage, Italian sausage, or any sausage that is your favorite
- 1 1/2 cups cheese You can use any kind of cheese you like ,I usually use a mixture of goat cheese, shredded cheddar and whatever other cheese i may have in the fridge
- 2 cups Salsa Use hot or mild, the amount of heat is up to you.
- 1 tsp salt the amount of salt is really up to your taste
- 1 tsp pepper again, the amount is up to you and your taste
Instructions
- Brown a pound of sausage in a frying pan crumbling the sausage into small pieces2 cups browned ground sausage
- Cut up the head of cabbage into large pieces. You will want to steam the cabbage before putting the easy cabbage casserole ingrediants together since all the ingredients are precooked. I usually cut up my cabbage into the casserole dish and microwave it witht the lid on for about 5 to 10 minutes or until the cabbage is slightly soft.1 head cabbage
- Place the steamed/soften cabbage pieces evenly in the casserole dish if you have not done so already At this point also add the salt and pepper to the cabbage.1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper
- Evenly place the crumbled sausage over the cabbage
- Pour the salsa over the sausage and cabbage2 cups Salsa
- Place the casserole dish in the oven uncovered at 350 degrees farinheit for about 30 to 40 minutes or until its bubbling
- At this point you will want to remove the casserole from the oven and add the cheese to the top of the casserole, return the casserole to the oven and continue baking until the cheese is melted and starting to brown.1 1/2 cups cheese
- Once the cheese is just the way you like it remove the casserole and allow to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

This easy cabbage casserole is great served with your favorite bread.
This dish is easy to adapt to use leftovers you may already have such as leftover sausages, and leftover salsa.
